Procrastination, rumination, all talk no action? Is your to do list growing, yet you’re not getting things done? This a sure fire way to increase your stress and anxiety, but it can all be a bit of a catch 22.
In today’s chat with @the.mind.spot we discuss one way to overcome this. The 5 second rule. When a thought, idea or ‘must do’ task comes to mind, count down 5,4,3,2,1 and take action.
This does not mean biting off more than you can chew. For example if you want to lose weight your first action may be making a healthy shopping list, or putting on your workout gear. If you want to learn a new skill, it might be as simple as making a phone call or sending an email to get the ball rolling.
Small consistent actions add up to big action over time.
What can you take steps to achieving today? 5,4,3,2,1 and go!
